Star Trek: The Flight Scene.
Star Trek gave us a glimpse of the advancement of Science by stretching our realms of imagination and fantasy.
The deep vast stretches of space and the graceful flight of the spaceship Enterprise is still breathtaking. Viewed from various angles , the glide past of the spaceship leaves us gauzing the size of the ship in wonderment in the fathomless co-ordinates of vast space. The view of the soundless passing by below of the space ship , skimming in a way to reveal the rooms with sight ports leaves us in another wonderment of fixing the size of the ship in other dimension; that of itself in relation to the rooms inside and people in it.The sights of the flight past the planets and skimming the rings of planet Saturn opens up another doors of hitherto unthought of and unheard of imagination.
The flight is shot at various angles , and it is these flight scenes that make up most of the casting scene. The colors add depth of a nature which is still unknown to the man on planet Earth except through the pictures and photos brought home through satellites, probes and spaceflights of a few handful of men.
The screen shows up as deep black space showing the fathomless depth of space. Filling it are little stars and planets and the colorful clouds of interstellar dust. Out from the the blackness , at a point emerges a dot, blue in color, takes the form of a giant spaceship which glides past skimming a bright Orange planet seeming as if touching it.The play of dimensions and size shown fills us with awe. The glide past the camera is shot at various angles , taken from sides and at angles from above and below. The breath is held till the glide proceeds. A mammoth of a size moving past a human eye leaves us all comparing it with the real life sizes which man perceives as BIG in this planet. The mind leaves the effort and lets itself indulge in the beauty of the play of sizes , the color , the vastness, the silence, the roundness and the hue and mix of colors and shades. There is no light as sunlight seen , but there is light noticed and shadows fall upon the surfaces.
The ship sails past, light upon the surfaces showing the details of the make. The view is from the top and the glide below shows the rooms and zooming closer, even the people in it. The ship passes by, its reactors glowing blue in the rear. It glides ahead and disappears into the black once again with a streak of light in between, letting us understand the speed of light.
There is silence but a deep music in synchrony continues with the motions and the movements and the speed, adding grace to the overall effect and leaving the viewers in enchantment in those few moments with sights out of this world.
